10 Days to Pentecost Days 9 & 10
Day 9 Honor
Break up the Ground
Have you noticed how diverse God has made His universe? Not one snow-flake alike, not one fingerprint, or leaf – all unique. As diverse as God is in nature, He is in His Body on the earth. Jesus is requiring us to not just tolerate, but honor each one in His Body whether the difference lies in gifting, styles, ethnicity, age, calling…you get the idea. Chances are good that each of us have challenges with this in some area. Today plow up that area, use you journal to jot down the area(s) Holy Spirit speaks to you about (1 Tim. 6:1-4; Ps. 8:5; Matt. 13:57, 15:4; Rom. 12:9-10; 1 Cor. 12:23-24)
Seek the Lord
What led up to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon those in the upper room was 120 believers being one in mind. Unity cannot be achieved unless there is a culture of honor. What happened after the upper room experience really blew the minds of the witnesses. When the Apostle Peter spoke to the diverse crowd on that day, each nationality hear them speak in their own language. As you reread the story in Acts 2 ask the Lord for His eyes when it come to how He views His most special creation, humanity (Acts 2).
Rains
Meditate on how great the love of Jesus is for all people. Now begin to think about the people in your city both great and small and let the love of God fill your heart for these people.
Day 10 Unity
Break up the Ground
As we looked at yesterday, the early church was unified in its diversity. Diversity is not an excuse for disunity but, as the apostle Paul speaks about in 1 Corinthians 12 is a great advantage. In Gods heart, unity in His Body is such a high priority it is there that He commands His blessing (Ps 133). Let Holy Spirit lead you as you ask His to reveal areas in you that needs to be aligned with Him.
Seek the Lord
Let God’s love fill you as you pray through John 13:34-35. Continue to ask the Lord that He would fulfill John 17 prayer that His body would be one (also 1 Cor. 1:10; Eph. 4:1-16.
Rains
Thank the Lord for a new outpouring of His Spirit upon His church.
